‘Power!Book Bag’ Drive Smashes Goal

Every year, the Elementary school participates in a book drive for a great organization called Power!Book Bags.  Power!Book Bags is a non-profit made up of volunteers who care about kids and want to make a difference in their lives through literacy. Their mission is to give children ownership of literacy materials so that they can grow in their abilities to increase language and literacy abilities through PLAY-ing, WRITE-ing, & READ-ing.

This year’s book drive at TC Christian ran from Friday, March 8 until Thursday, March 21.  Our goal was 500 books and when all the dust settled, the Elementary kids had collected almost three times that amount:  1,469 books!!  We are the only school that does a book drive for the organization.  The 1st Graders won with the highest number of books donated with Power!Book Bags receiving 445 books from that class alone!  Outstanding work everyone.  And 1st Grade, we understand there’s a pizza party in your future.
