The TC Christian bowling program received some significant honors this weekend. Brent Wheat, the Girls’ Bowling Coach was named Coach of the Year by the Traverse City Record Eagle. At the same time, Seniors, Savannah Bluemel and Ethan Haldaman, were honored as members of the Traverse City Record Eagle’s Boys’ and Girls’ High School Bowling Dream Teams for the 2019 season. Honorable mentions went to Emily Bluck, Hunter Haldaman, and Ella Wendel.
Of Coach Wheat, the Record Eagle said, “(Brent) led the Sabres to a D4 regional title with Bluemel taking third place as an individual. TC Christian placed sixth at the team state finals and earned a No. 5 postseason ranking from MHSIBCA.”
Of Savannah, the Record Eagle said, “(Savannah) placed third at state finals in D4 after taking home the top honors at the singles regional qualifier with 1,040 total pin fall. She averaged 164 pins per game, had a high game of 213 and a high series of 415 to lead the Sabres to a sixth place team finish at states and a regional title.”
And of Ethan, the Record Eagle said, ” (Ethan’s) a return Dream-Teamer who led the Sabres in average at 181, beating out younger brother Hunter by only two pins. Placed 12th at the singles regional qualifier with a 1,039. He also had a high game of 223 and high series of 422.”
Congratulations to Brent for the recognition of many years hard work, to Ethan and Savannah for making the Dream Team, and to Emily, Hunter, and Ella for being honored as candidates. What a great group. Go Sabres!!
