Sabre bowlers Ethan and Hunter Haldaman competed on a tough oil pattern* in the Great Lakes Jr Gold Tour Eliminator event at Spectrum Lanes in Wyoming, Michigan this weekend.
Ethan averaged 172 through 6 games coming up just short from advancing. Hunter averaged 187 and advanced to Round 2.
In Round 2, Hunter averaged 217 through 4 games, qualifying 2nd to advance to the finals. In the finals, Hunter averaged 247 needing to strike out in the 10th frame to force a roll-off against fellow Great Northwest Bowling Conference bowler, Kyle Vermilya, from Cadillac. Hunter came up just short, striking on his first two shots and leaving a single pin on the final shot to come up one pin shy of a roll-off. Hunter finished the day in second place in a very competitive field filled with many division 1-4 bowlers not limited to Michigan. Great job, Hunter!…
*Oil is applied to the lane as a barrier to protect the surface from damage over years of use. Oil patterns affect the bowling balls reaction as it goes down the lane.
