A much-anticipated rite-of-passage at TC Christian is the Senior Mission Trip. Each year, the Senior class, accompanied by chaperones and staff, heads to the Caribbean and/or Central America where they plug into a community and serve. This year’s class are in Belize where they’ve been serving a new church plant in the town of Caledonia. A key component of the trip has been the presentation of Bibles made possible by the Elementary School’s Mission-Based Reading Program. Eighty TCCS Elementary students were able to personalize their gift of a New Testament Bible by writing their first names on the inside flap of the Bible and presenting them to the Senior class before departure. These Bibles are now in the hands of children and families in Belize. A big thank you to our parents for encouraging and supporting this special outreach program!
The Seniors have been keeping us updated on all their goings-on while serving in Belize. From what they’ve told us, this trip has been hugely valuable to them as a class from every aspect: spiritual, relational, and educational. Here are a few highlights as told by one of the group:
We got to clean Mrs. Arceily’s yard today! We were glad we could help with this! We saw the smile this brought to her face! Part of her testimony is that she has no one to do it for her as she lives by herself and she couldn’t do it on her own! She said we were such a blessing in her life! Best of all, we got to SHARE the LOVE of GOD with her!
WOW! WOW! WOW! The first day of VBS was awesome! We went out and invited kids from half of the village because the village is big so we only had time to do half! We were expecting 50 children to come and were blessed to serve 95! We had tons of fun and shared some great moments. The next day, we had 120 kids show up. It was incredible. Through the Parable of the Sower (the man who sowed seed on different types of soil) we learned about the different kinds of Christian. , It was very powerful and we definitely saw the Hand of God moving. Of course, being that it was VBS, we also played, danced, and had snacks 🙂 The next day, we had so many kids, we lost count. The big lesson of the day was Noah and the Ark. Amazing to see these youngsters absorbing the Bible so eagerly. It was amazing.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me to drink. Truly i tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me! Mt 25:35
Food distribution was touching! We got to share the Gospel, and bless families in the community with food baskets! We cried and laughed with the families in their homes and left knowing we had put a smile on their faces and had shared the love of Jesus.
The Seniors and their support team return to Traverse City on the evening of November 22. Please keep them all in your prayers. For additional pictures and information, please click here.
